Tom Crew
Hey everyone. This is Tom. I am one of the leaders of Wake Up Youth Ministries. I hope to one day enter the ministry to preach the good news as an ordainded pastor of the Church of Christ. I, like Phil and Jordan, want to see these Minitries flourish into a large organization, spreading the Good News and converting all non-believers into faithfull Christians.
My Christian Backround
My Christian backround started off extremely weak.I was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church, Austintown, OH. When I was only two or three my family moved out to Girard where we attended Trinity Lutheran Chruch. I used to hate going to church, I would kick, scream, rant, and rave when I learned that my family would be going to church. As I got to better know my pastor, and better understand the religion, I became more passionate. I was known to cry, and cry, and cry during the Maunday Thursday and Good Friday services.
In fourth grade, my family and I moved to Boardman, OH. As we started looking for churches we were stumped. There were so many friendly and welcoming churches within the township that it was hard to choose the right one for us. Finally, we decided on Bethel Lutheran Church. At first I thought, "Oh, this church is just a bunch of old people." But, once I became more active in the church I realized that there are quite a few young people as enthusiastic about the love of God as I was. The first kids that greeted me were Phil Hall, Jordan Thoreson, and James Zellhart. Two of which I am still great friends with and each take part in Wake Up Youth Ministries.
As I am going through my highschool years, I am realizing that I am being called to enter the ministry. And, as I was taught, I am letting God use me as an intrument to do His will. To know that I am serving The Almighty in the best way I can makes me feel wonderful.
I will continue to spread the love of Christ not only through Wake Up, but also through my personal myspace, and by talking to people interested in learning more about the Grace of God.
Peace.
Wake Up Youth Ministries
Oh, where do I begin? Wake Up Youth Ministries started out as just us three teenagers wanting to make a difference. We planned to do this through Myspace. Since so many teens use Myspace, I thought it would be a perfect way to spread the love of Christ. When I told my mother about our myspace and our plans to spread the Good News, she was thrilled. Her being the Chirstian Education Director for Bethel Lutheran Church, she always welcomes my great love for Jesus.
One Sunday after church, as we built a cross to take along on our mission trip, we were thinking of a name for our youth group. The thought suddenly occured to me! Let us call the Youth Group: Wake Up Youth Ministries. My mother, father, and Pastor were amazed by the name and quickly agreed to take on the name.
And so then, the youth group without a name became: Wake Up Youth Ministries.
We are now spreading the love of Christ on an even larger scale. Though when the myspace was started we had no thought to the Ministries getting any bigger, but exceeding our expectations the Ministries have grown this large in only a few months. Who know how large they can become in a longer period of time. Let us pray for the continual expansion of Wake Up Youth Ministries.
